In "Def-Con 4," a 1985 Canadian post-apocalyptic film, three astronauts aboard a secret space station witness a catastrophic nuclear war between the United States and the Soviet Union. After two months in orbit, they are forced to return to a drastically altered Earth. Landing in eastern Nova Scotia, Canada, the crew faces a nightmarish new world. Jordan (Kate Lynch) is incapacitated upon impact, while Walker (John Walsch) meets a tragic fate at the hands of disease-ravaged humans known as "terminals." Howe (Tim Choate) ventures out and encounters Vinny (Maury Chaykin), a survivalist who imprisons him. The story unfolds as Howe, Vinny, and fellow survivor J.J. (Lenore Zann) are captured and taken to a fortress ruled by a tyrannical former military-school student. They must navigate a landscape filled with cannibalistic "terminals" and oppressive rulers, all while racing against time to escape a malfunctioning nuclear warhead set to detonate in sixty hours.
